Product Design

The Mishi Kicks concept was developed for Autodesk to test, prototype and proof soft-good design workflows for Autodesk Alias industrial design software.

A five day intensive workshop with veteran shoemaker Alan Zeborick was initiated prior to the project to develop hands-on experience with measuring and fitting, pattern design and footwear grading followed by a separate one day overview of the footwear design process at Nike’s Beaverton campus.

This experience was then applied to the successful transition of the last draft creation process from an analog to 3D digital workflow where digital assets can be leveraged for real-time ideation of material, colour, graphic and form changes with downstream rapid-prototyping capabilities.

New Dynamic Shape Modeling tools were refined, processes for unwrapping organic surfaces were experimented with and new real-time visualization workflows were realized.
